Hi all,

Asaf, Miri, Efrat, and I noticed that there is still a lot of confusion regarding the new release system, so we wanted to explain it again, step by step.

1. You submit a video (thanks Kip). At this point, your video gets its first time stamp, which is only the time submitted. This is the date that will always appear on the Most Recent page.

2. The video is sent to our community of volunteer reviewers all around the world who use the Metacafe Pro Application to view videos. At this point, you can view the video online ONLY via a direct link.

3. Your video is released to the Most Recent page within 3 hours of submission, unless it has been removed by the Metacafe team for having content not suitable for Metacafe. At this point, your video is available by searches on the site and in our video library.
Note: If your video has not been released within this time frame, chances are the conversion process failed. If 24 hours have passed from when you submitted the video, please contact us at customersupport@metacafe.com with the link to your video.

4. Once your video has gained a certain amount of views and ranks, it will appear on the Highest Rated, Most Viewed, and/or Most Discussed lists (where applicable if the video qualifies). At this point your video’s time stamp changes for a second and last time.

5. Videos can remain on the Top lists on the Today page for up to 48 hours. Keep in mind that as other videos are released to the site, your video’s location on these pages may vary.

6. After 48 hours (at most), if your video still qualifies, it will move off the Today pages to the Top Videos pages and appear under the This Week section (followed by This Month) in the applicable sections.

We’d like to remind you that ALL videos gain views from Metacafe Pro up to 20,000 views. Keep in mind that views from the reviewers do NOT count towards your total views.

Some of you have pointed out that the Most Recent page hasn’t been updating. We’d like to point your attention to the drop-down menu by the Most Recent link. Click on it and change it to All Ranks, and you will be able to see that the page is, in fact, updating all the time.

For those of you who have claimed that Producer Rewards videos no longer have a shot, we’d like to point you towards the two first pages of the Highest Rated section. Out of the 30 videos appearing on these pages, 10 of them are PR candidates. This is actually a higher ratio than the PR and non-PR submission rate, meaning less than 1 in 3 videos submitted to Metacafe are submitted to PR.

The four of us are constantly making sure that your needs are being met. As with all changes of this magnitude, Metacafe will continue to conduct research into our system to make sure things are working well and in a way that will benefit our producers as well as our viewing audience.

We are confident that these changes will make Metacafe a more welcoming place to share your videos on, which will, in turn, increase the amount of people that visit Metacafe and increase the exposure of your videos.
