Hey everyone, we’ve released some exciting new features to Metacafe today and we would love to hear what you think about them.

Message Center

Have you noticed the envelope icon at the upper-right side of the page when you are logged into your Metacafe account? That icon means that you have a new message waiting for you at the Metacafe Message Center, a new service that allows registered users to send messages directly to each other. So next time you have a question about someone’s video (or just want to say “good job!”), you can send a private message directly to him.

Your Message Center inbox is also where you will find important updates from Metacafe, such as the status of your submitted videos, updates to your subscribed channels, and comments on your profile or submitted videos. You can even select to have a daily digest of your private messages sent directly to your email account of choice by going to “Channel Settings” under “My Channel.”

Changes to the Metacafe Homepage

Did you notice the new scrolling “showcase” on our homepage? We are rolling out the showcase in stages and expect to be 100% live in the next couple weeks. This should make it even easier for you to find cool videos (and provide more exposure for producers too!).

Other additions to the site include a button next to the video you are watching so that you can easily subscribe to the producer or submitter’s channel, and now you can upload a video to Metacafe simply by submitting a URL.

Great Stuff! And the BEST FEATURE is the "Block Member" feature. Now we can block ANY channel from sending us messages AND the best part, commenting on our videos!! Just go to the channel you want to block and select Block Member! Awesome! Let's see the spammers keep up with us now!

Here's a suggestion. When you get "a comment to your Metacafe User Channel" it does not show you the comment but takes you to your channel. I have 250+ comments and since it does not take you to the comment but to the top of your channel, there is no way to view the comment unless I hunt around for it.

Very cool features!!! I'm with Kip...so glad you added a block feature. Now we can stop spammers and people that insist on posting insulting and ignorant comments!

Keith, the comments suggestion is great and I believe we should be able to get it in at some point.
