If you’ve been toiling away feverishly on the perfect original video for Producer Rewards, only to land up on page 17 of the Most Recent catalog, this is your big chance. We can’t promise you instant Hollywood attention or millions of dollars, but we can get you well on your way to a Producer Rewards deal with the amount of traffic your video will get.

We’ve already had some great submissions from Hersheymagic2, creator of his bimonthly Metacafe News series, and “weblebrity” Nalts has been churning out his hilarious interviews of Metacafe producers for us.

So what else are we looking for? First of all, it HAS to be original, in both the no-copyrighted-content-we-hate-lawsuits sense and the creative/innovative sense. There’s a time and place for how-to and iPod hack videos – this isn’t it.

We want scripted (or improv) videos that are funny, thought-provoking, or just plain interesting. We’re not asking for big budget productions and special effects, but we do want videos that are well-written and thought out. If you’ve started a web-based video series, even better. We love to see user-generated shows.

What about a scripted acted joke video promoting the producer rewards program.Would that work? One that's maybe featured by metacafe. Would I get paid for that?

Cool! I have a great idea for this video in which I'm on a date with an attractive young lady, and while I'm driving, I accidentally let a fart slip out. I'm concerned at first, but soon I realize that she lets one go, too!

Okay, then I have another idea. I'm going to make a short movie about how I make this home-cooked meal for a date. I work really, really hard on the food, but in the end...well, I won't give it away (except to say that as it turns out, I put in one ingredient I shouldn't have).

LOL Simpson's did it! Why not do a parody about the world's worst comedian..... live at the IMPROVE instead of the IMPROV LOL or make a cereal parody about Kelloggs Honey Smacks! Better yet... do a bit about a 4th grade spelling bee LOL

Well I can say that I don't trust this idea at all. I mean they put a video of mine back on after I deleted it and used it to promote Pr in the featured spot and it's been almost two weeks since it passed 20k and they are not paying me for it. The video does not help me at all. But they are using it to help PR. Don't you think I should be paid for that?

They aren't paying you jeff? I was sure a video that THEY chose to HELP THEM would get paid... especially since i saw it above a 3.00 over the 4th of July Weekend, when it passed 20,000 and we all gave a hip hip hurray in the chat room. They won't believe it was over 3.00? Is that the problem? Well shame on them for not being online when it passed, or not having a system to record the rating when it passes 20,000. Don't make rules you can't enforce, my father always said.

Plus, that was a joke video! You put it up to show me, and edie and Talia... not very many others! You removed it, and THEY put it back up? If THEY put it back up, THEY need to pay the creator. Definitely. I mean... you should probably pay him MORE than his half a cent a view, since its not a simple how-to or what not, but a GLORIOUS PRAISE of MC. MetaCafe doesn't seem to realize that all the effort Producers put in to bringing outside viewers in to watch OUR videos, helps them a lot! Yes, this is a great movie site... but MC claims to value its producers... and then not pay a producer for work, THEY VALIDATE as being good enough to feature?

Yea Hydro that's what they are saying. That it was not above a 3.00 when it made 20k views. (Wich is BS) I forgot that you guys seen it at a 3.08 when it passed 20k. But they say their systems show it was under. LOL how the hell am I suppose to prove it? I know it was, you know it was, but that's not enough I guess. But my biggest problem with the whole thing is that I removed it and they put it back on to use. Not me, them. And after it passed 20k with a three I thought I would get paid. 4 days later it still wasn't approved. So I posted the link in the fourm asking if I was going to get paid. At that time it was up to 34k views still with a 3.08. But like all videos that I post in the fourm, someone went and downrated it to like a 2.70. Guess what. That day, 5 days after passing the 20k witha 3.08, they looked at it and rejected it saying it was under a 3.00. Oh well, I'm just the littel man. What can I do but sit and take it.

They would of payed you if your video maintained a 3.0 rating.

If they wanted to use it to promote PR, and it passed 20K you should get paid. I would send an e-mail to customersupport@metacafe.com and talk to them directly rather than in the forum.

Hey jeff, at first I thought you had a deal with metacafe and that would explain why your video doesn't have a PR tag on it, that was my optimistic thought.

I am sure this will get worked out. They have my promise that it was over a 3.00, so that should be enough. Plus they KNOW they are benefitting... and you deserve to benefit for helping them benefit.

We all know MC is a good group of people who will reward your efforts, espcially since 200$ is hardly anything to them.

I know they are a good group of people. That's why I don't understand what happened. Anyway I just keep making videos and hope they get excepted.

Jeff - you know we have been discussing this for a few days, and the fact that you say you haven't received responses is unfair since I have been emailing you - there's no reason for 3 of us to email you. We are still discussing this.

Talia I wrote to you , you wrote back that was after emailing support 3 times . I email you a week after trying to get a answer from support. you emailed back I wrote back to you that was 3 days ago and i haven't heard anything else. But the biggest point here for me is , Its been 2 weeks since it has passed 20,000 under the circumstances of this video and the way that this all played out why should it have to be disscussed this long to firgure out if you guys are going to pay me for this video.Try to look at it at my point of view for a change.

This is pretty much the situation with the video in question. That's why I posted it here. I'm sorry. I was wrong for thinking that I guess. I won't say anything else about it and just forget about it.

No, Jeff, feel free to post anything you want, just this in particular wasn't the case. No worries.

I also saw jeff's vid when it was over 20,000 views and had a ranking over 3 - for quite some time. I thought the PR ranking requirement was a video that has a 3.0 rating or above at any time over 20,000. Even if it dips down below 3 later it is forever eliglible. That's what I've read on MC requirements anyway. Not sure why there even has to be a discussion about his vid. It's pretty cut and dried.

You're right - once it has been accepted, we don't kick them out (at least at the moment it's like that).

Jeff's video was already accepted. As for yours, if you emailed us, I"m sure we've received it. Assaf has been sick for the past couple of days, so he has really only been answering the more urgent emails.

How good are the odds for a video to be accepted to be on the frontpage?

We have a lot of videos under consideration all the time, so we unfortunately can't feature all of them. We do our best to showcase a wide variety of both content and producers, so if your videos are well made and different from all the rest, then it has a better chance of being featured.
