Hi everyone!
I’d like to introduce you to the brand new Metacafe Studio, a great new section of Metacafe’s site dedicated to our amazing community of video creators. The Studio gives us a chance to showcase your original work and your fascinationg stories. It’s also a place where all video creators from first-timers to established professionals can pick up great tips, find resources, and share advice for future projects.
Don’t worry – all the Producer Rewards features you’re used to seeing under the Producer Rewards tab are still here – but with a twist. Now you’ll have more stats and more exposure!
For example, you can still see the Top Producers list, but now you can choose if you’d like to see the top producers of the week, month, or all time. You can sort them by earnings, number of videos submitted to Metacafe, and the average rank.
We wanted to give you, our amazing video creators, more exposure, so we will now feature a different producer every day, including a link to the Producer’s page – so don’t forget to spiffy up your profile with an avatar, a quote, and a link to your website.
The Spotlight section specifically was created to give all of our video creators more exposure. Here you’ll find some of Metacafe’s favorite Producer Rewards videos and interviews with some of Metacafe’s video creators. This section will also feature video news, updated daily, tips and tools of the trade, and columns by your favorite producers and industry leaders. Here you’ll find information like what type of music can be used for Producer Rewards.
In our Resources page, you’ll find everything you need to get your video off the ground, including links to stock media, software, and product reviews that will help you choose the best resources to fit your particular needs. We know that you don’t have Hollywood budgets, so we made sure to include a lot of free sites as well.
Ever wanted to shoot a video outdoors, but couldn’t get the lighting right? How about that awesome ”Pleasantville” or “Sin City” affect where everything is black and white except for one color? Well, here’s an extra something you won’t find on any other video site: The Metacafe Production School. In this section you’ll find tons of tutorials about everything related to video production from the most basic, such as camera work and movement, to the more advanced topics like lighting, sound, and editing.
We created this “studio” FOR you, and we want to see YOU be a part of it. If you think you can contribute to any of these sections, email us at studio@metacafe.com and show us what you’ve got!

Congratulations, on the new studio Talia, it looks very nice!
But it's being a little slow at the moment...
Anyway, I had time to browse through it before it slowed down to a crawl, and there's some useful info in there (great section on music for instance, that will come in very useful to new producers...).

Looks nice. Hopefully it will'speed up'. I'm wondering about the Tab that just says 'Studio'. I wonder if people are going to know that is where they can find the Producer Rewards videos? The other tab had a different font and color and this one is the same as all the other tabs. If someone wants to see the Producer Rewards videos how will they find it? Hunt and peck?

Yup, we had a few things to smooth out so we waited til today. I hope you all like it. If you have suggestions, please let us know.
As for the Featured Producer, it's more or less random. We're not playing favorites here, don't worry. But every so often we'll choose someone we think isn't doing as well as they should -- someone deserving of a little extra exposure.

The new section is cool! Hopefully it will help producers fight the regular vids and maintain some sort of stablility. Is the featured producer changed daily, (I hope So), otherwise we can guess how that's going to work out.

I guess the Top 10 Producer's won't be featured?

The top 10 list is still there - the default is weekly but you can see all time as well. Play around a bit - there's a lot to see.

Yes that list is much better with our logo's etc. I was referring to Feature Producer. Is Nalt's on staff? I liked his profile of Spacepaintings.

Nalts is working with us on that particular feature, yes. So I'm not sure what exactly you were talking about with the top producers.

OH - we haven't made an official decision about that either way. Everyone has an equal chance of being featured.

Wow! There is a ton of info on that resource page. I feel overwhelmed...

...not enough time to go through it all. AHHHHHH!!!!!
But great job, Talia, Assaf, and the rest of you at Metacafe. I think I know where the Big Wigs at Metacafe are trying to head with this site. Will be interesting to see where it ends up in 5 to 10 years with more and more people heading to their computers at night for personalized entertainment...
p.s. yea! I made the monthly top earners tab.

Now if I could just finish the video I've been working on for 2 months...

Alright, Assaf, since you asked...
My first suggestion would be to change how the TOP TEN works under the "Average Rank" tab.
[p.s. I'm talking about under the "Ever" category, not the weekly or monthly]
Don't get me wrong, it's a good tab, but for it to really reflect what it says it does, there should be a requirement of at least 2 videos, if not 3, to qualify. Because let's face it, 1 video rating isn't really an "average." The TOP TEN category, as it is now (all 10 producers have ONLY 1 video), will scarcely ever change. It could virtually show the same ten people for an eternity.
You need to look no further than any profession sport to see why. Like in baseball, to qualify for awards or any TOP TEN list, you've got to pass a certain threshold. Like batting average, for example, you have to have at least 502 "at bats" before you can qualify for the season's title. Otherwise there would be HUNDREDS of crappy players with a PERFECT 1.00 average because they stepped to the plate ONE TIME and got one hit.
Anyways, I'm going on and on for no reason, but there you have it. Just a suggestion I think is worthy.

I saw that right 'off the bat'. No baseball pun intended. Not sure how many people are going to even click that sorting link. It may be a moot point.

I saw what both Screenwriter and Kip saw as well. I thought exactly the same thing..
but without the great baseball analogy... that was very smart.

Well, I must say to everyone involved (including the other Producers) that this is a job well done. Looking at the list, you can really see just how awesome KipKay is doing especially in terms of earnings. All I'm looking forward to now is the community features such as favorites, subscriptions, etc (similar to YouTube and LiveVideo).
As for submitting to the Studio, what do you mean? What kind of stuff? Also, can we do production school stuff and get Producer Rewards for it? I'm confused on those sections as far as what kind of involvement you want from us.
Anyway, MetaCafe is getting much better. Even if it is harder for a video to break into Producer Rewards, the site itself is still better.

I would send an email and ask Assaf before you spend any time on a video you think they might want to use. They have commissioned with a production company for their 'production school' videos.

You can LITERALLY contribute to any section, including the Production School. Email us at studio@metacafe.com before just to make sure it's not something that we already have but haven't yet uploaded.

BTW, please fix the browsing.
on studio.metacafe.com it shows me default all the latest accepted Prod Rew videos. If I click "next" it disconsiders that filter and brings me up results from all around the site.
