Hi all,
Asaf and I wanted to shed some light about the recent (and final) changes that we recently made to the site.
First of all, an explanation about the Most Recent page. Like we wrote in the previous post on the day we released this new system, videos are released to the Most Recent page within 3 hours from the moment of submission to the site. However, this no longer means your video will appear in our top lists immediately.
In order to appear on the Highest Rated, Most Discussed, and Most Viewed pages, your video still needs to have a minimum amount of ranks (which has been drastically reduced by half) and a minimum amount of views. This is to make sure that the videos have been ranked by a variety of people, thus ensuring the rank is the rank chosen by the community, and not the first few people who viewed it.
This means that although your video hits the Most Recent page MUCH quicker, it still needs to work hard to get to the top pages. Don’t forget that for each video of yours that is waiting to get to the Top Videos, so are many others, so you are not losing your chances of appearing on those pages for up to 48 hours, like before.

Okay, so for everyone who sometimes has brain freeze like me or who has surpassed a certain number of lost brain cells...
Let's see if this is right and clear for me and everyone.
1. I submit a video. (I think I get that part) TIME STAMP 1
2. The video is reviewed by people using the application who have said they want to be reviewers and also by direct links, blogs, etc. (not yet indexed on the site or searchable)
3. The video is released to the Today > Most Recent page after a maximum of 3 hours regardless of ranking or number of views. (Now indexed and searchable) TIME STAMP 2
4. After a certain number of views and ranks, the video is released to the Today > Highest Rated page(s) wherever it falls according to the rank at a time determined by the amount of views/ranks. TIME STAMP 3
5. The video moves off the Today > Most Recent page(s) and to the Top Videos > This Week page(s) where it remains for 7 days, then moves to the This Month.
Talia, is this correct? Please say yes, or clarify, so we can get on with the business at hand..submitting videos.

QUOTE(beachgal @ Jun 11 2007, 02:34 PM) With a 3.30 shouldn't this video show up on the 3.0+ Most recent page ?? It was uploaded 4 hours ago. I'm still confused http://www.metacafe.com/watch/644130/straight_to_the_groin/No, probably not quite enough views/ranks yet. Vieos WILL appear on the Most Recent using the ALL RANKS drop down but will not be released to the Most Recent general index until it has enough views/ranks.
