Home Page Change: "popular Now" Options

Hi everyone,

You might notice that on the home page we’re featuring a new selection of videos that are “Popular Now.” This is intended to make it easy for people (Metacafe regulars and new-comers alike) to quickly find fresh videos that a large number of our 30 million viewers are currently watching and enjoying and to demonstrate the dynamic nature of our site.

This does, for the moment, replace the rotating showcase of how-to, Producer Rewards and other videos that had been on the home page. That showcase, however, was not driving a significant number of views to Producer Rewards videos, so we don’t expect this change to have a significant negative impact on views of your videos.

That said, we’re currently working to create a new-and-improved method for promoting Producer Rewards videos (and the talented creators who make them) on the home page. We expect to roll this out in May, so stay tuned!

Where are the Popular Now videos? Are they post roll? Is there a tab or area they are in? I could not seem to find them.

Sorry guys, it turns out the new home page section hasn't gone 100% worldwide yet, but it will the beginning of next week.

I am not able to understand what does "30 million viewers are currently watching" means.......last minute? last hour? what exactly. If that is so...then can you say videos that are Popular 14 hrs ago as "Popular Now" !!!

I am afraid "Popular Now" did not excite me because there were no figures rating, veiws etc that had any direction to guide me that this video is "Popular" than the next.

Can you kindly guide me over here

The 30 million figure is based on the number of unique site-hits that Metacafe gets every month. Since this topic is now almost 5 months old, the figure stands at about 34 million. The statement that was made above actually says "intended to make it easy for people... to quickly find fresh videos that a large number of our 30 million viewers are currently watching"

Popular means that a certain video has received a large number of hits(views) in the last few minutes/hours and it suggests that, by way of the number of hits that video has, other people might be interested in seeing it as well. Youtube uses the same type of setup to post certain videos at the top of the Youtube.com website.
